課題

Little Nancy's Pet

Little Nancy was in the garden filling in a hole when her neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the little girl was up to, he politely asked, "What are you up to there, Nancy?"
"My goldfish died," replied Nancy tearfully, without looking up, "and I've just buried him."

The neighbor was concerned, "That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?"

Nancy patted down the last heap of earth and then replied, "That's because he's inside your stupid cat."

ナンシーちゃんの金魚

ナンシーちゃんはお庭でせっせと穴掘り中。フェンス越しにのぞいたお隣りのおじさん、気になってたずねました。「どうしたんだい、ナンシーちゃん？」

「金魚が死んじゃったの」顔も上げず、涙ながらにナンシーちゃんは答えます。「だから埋めてあげたのよ」

かわいそうに、と思いながらおじさんは言いました。「金魚にしては、えらく大きな穴を掘ったものだね」

最後の土を穴にかぶせ終えたナンシーちゃん、答えて言うには「だって私の金魚ちゃんは、おじさんのバカ猫のお腹の中にいるんだもん」。
