Girl:　Tomorrow is your birthday, isn’t it?
Robot:　Yes, if you think a robot has a birthday. I’ve been programmed to serve your every need. My initial start date is of little importance to me.
Girl:　But you are a member of our family. Even if you are a robot. We think of you as one of us. We want to celebrate your life like we would any of our other family members.
Robot:　That is such a kind human sentiment to share with me. You know I am programmed to work without emotion. If you choose to give me a birthday party, that is up to you.

女の子：明日誕生日だよね？
ロボット：そうですね、ロボットにも誕生日という概念があてはまるとすればそのとおりです。わたしはあなたがたの要望に応えるようプログラムされています。わたしが動き始めた日はわたしにとっては特に意味がありません。
女の子：でもあなたは私たちの家族だもん。たとえロボットでもね。私たちは家族の一員だと思ってるの。あなたの生まれた日もほかの家族と同じようにお祝いしたい。
ロボット：わたしには理解しがたい、とても人間的な感覚ですね。わたしは感情を持たず動作するようにプログラムされています。もし誕生日パーティーをすると言うなら、どうぞご自由に。
