The three friends had been looking forward to camping together in the Lonely Mountains for many days. Every year they would spend a long weekend together under the stars. The best part of their time together was trying to scare each other with spooky campfire stories.
Fox : OK, can I go? I have a great story to share this year. You will wet yourself with fear!
Ferret : Ha ha. That sounds better than last year’s story about the clumsy graveyard ghosts.
Rabbit: Yeah, I’m looking forward to having a good laugh. Every year you hope to scare us badly – let’s see if you can do it this time.
Fox : Great. So there were these three kids that were hiking in the woods around here...

３びきの なかまたちは、ひっそり山に みんなで キャンプに いくのを ずっと ずっと たのしみに していました。まいとし みんなで あつまって、ほしぞらの したで ながい やすみを すごすのです。いっしょに いるときの いちばんの おたのしみは、たきびを かこんで、ともだちが ぞっとするような こわい はなしを する じかんでした。
キツネ： じゃあ、ぼくから いいかな？ ことしは ものすごい はなしを よういして きたんだ。きみたち、こわくって おもらし しちゃうよ！
フェレット： あはは！ きょねんの、おはかに でる ぶきっちょな おばけの はなしよりは マシみたいだね。
ウサギ： そうだね、たっぷり わらわせて もらうのが たのしみだよ。まいとし みんなを こわがらせようとして、しっぱい するんだから。さあて、こんどは うまく いくかな。
キツネ： よおし。さて、このあたりの もりで ハイキングをしていた ３びきの こどもが いました……
