The three friends had been looking forward to camping together in the Lonely Mountains for many days. Every year they would spend a long weekend together under the stars. The best part of their time together was trying to scare each other with spooky campfire stories.
Fox : OK, can I go? I have a great story to share this year. You will wet yourself with fear!
Ferret : Ha ha. That sounds better than last year’s story about the clumsy graveyard ghosts.
Rabbit: Yeah, I’m looking forward to having a good laugh. Every year you hope to scare us badly – let’s see if you can do it this time.
Fox : Great. So there were these three kids that were hiking in the woods around here...
訳文
ともだちどうしの３びきは、なんにちもまえから ぼっちやまでのキャンプを たのしみにしていました。
まいとし、ながいおやすみを ほしぞらのもとで いっしょに すごしていたのです。
３びきが なにより たのしみにしていたのが、たきびのまわりで こわいはなしをして おどかしあうことでした。
きつね：じゃあ、ぼくから はなしてもいい？ ことしは とびっきり こわいはなしをするね。
あまりのおそろしさに、ちびっちゃうよ！
フェレット：それは たのしみだ。きょねん きみがした、きみのわるい おはかのおばけのはなしよりも おもしろそうだ。
うさぎ：そうだね。きっと、おおわらいするんだろうな。
まいとし、ぼくたちを とっても こわがらせようとするけど―きょうは できるのかな。
きつね：もちろんさ。もりのなかの このあたりで、ぼくたち３びきが ハイキングをしていて……

3. 表現がとても絵本らしくて、難しい言葉も不自然な言い回しも無くていいと思います。
「ぼっちやま」の訳も響きがよくてなるほど！と思いました。 (評価：5)
