The three friends had been looking forward to camping together in the Lonely Mountains for many days. Every year they would spend a long weekend together under the stars. The best part of their time together was trying to scare each other with spooky campfire stories.
Fox : OK, can I go? I have a great story to share this year. You will wet yourself with fear!
Ferret : Ha ha. That sounds better than last year’s story about the clumsy graveyard ghosts.
Rabbit: Yeah, I’m looking forward to having a good laugh. Every year you hope to scare us badly – let’s see if you can do it this time.
Fox : Great. So there were these three kids that were hiking in the woods around here...

そのなかよし三人組は、何日も前から、ひっそり山でのキャンプを楽しみにしていました。毎年、三人は、星空の下で一緒に長い週末を過ごします。キャンプでのいちばんの楽しみは、たき火を囲みながらおばけの話をして、こわがらせあいっこをすることでした。
きつね：じゃあ、ぼくから始めてもいいかい？今年はとびきりの話があるんだ。こわくてきっとちびっちゃうぞ！
フェレット：あはは。去年の墓場のぶきっちょゆうれいの話よりもましなようだね。
うさぎ：いいね、今から大笑いするのが楽しみだよ。きつね君はいつもぼくたちをひどくこわがらせようとするけどさ。まぁ、今回はがんばってみてよ。
きつね：じゃあいくぞ。この近くの森で3人のこどもたちがハイキングをしていたんだけど…。
