The three friends had been looking forward to camping together in the Lonely Mountains for many days. Every year they would spend a long weekend together under the stars. The best part of their time together was trying to scare each other with spooky campfire stories.
Fox : OK, can I go? I have a great story to share this year. You will wet yourself with fear!
Ferret : Ha ha. That sounds better than last year’s story about the clumsy graveyard ghosts.
Rabbit: Yeah, I’m looking forward to having a good laugh. Every year you hope to scare us badly – let’s see if you can do it this time.
Fox : Great. So there were these three kids that were hiking in the woods around here...

なかよし３人組はもう何日も前から、さびし山でキャンプするのを楽しみにしていました。毎年、星空のしたで長い週末を一緒にすごしてきたものです。中でも一番の楽しみは、キャンプファイアのまわりでオバケの話をして、みんなをこわがらせることでした。
キツネ：じゃあぼくから行くよ？ 今年の話はすごいんだ。こわくてもらしちゃうよ！
イタチ：ふーん。じゃあ去年のさ、お墓に出るどんくさいオバケの話よりはましかな。
ウサギ：そうだね、今年も笑える話になるのが楽しみだよ。毎年毎年こわがらせようとはしてるけど、今年こそはうまく行くかな？
キツネ：じゃあ、とにかく始めるね。このあたりの森を、子どもが３人歩いていました…
