The three friends had been looking forward to camping together in the Lonely Mountains for many days. Every year they would spend a long weekend together under the stars. The best part of their time together was trying to scare each other with spooky campfire stories.
Fox : OK, can I go? I have a great story to share this year. You will wet yourself with fear!
Ferret : Ha ha. That sounds better than last year’s story about the clumsy graveyard ghosts.
Rabbit: Yeah, I’m looking forward to having a good laugh. Every year you hope to scare us badly – let’s see if you can do it this time.
Fox : Great. So there were these three kids that were hiking in the woods around here...

なかよし３匹は、さびし山でいっしょにキャンプすることをなんにちもずっとたのしみにしていました。まいとし３匹は長いお休みにはいっしょに山に行き、星空の下ですごしていたのです。３匹のいちばんのおたのしみは、キャンプファイヤーをかこんでじゅんばんにこわいおはなしをすることでした。
キツネ ： よし、ぼくのばんでいいかい? ことしはすごいおはなしがあるんだよ。きみたち、こわくておもらししちゃうかもしれないよ!
フェレット： ハハ。きょねんのきみの、ぶきっちょなおはかオバケたちのおはなしよりはおもしろそうだね。
ウサギ ： うん、おおわらいするのがたのしみだな。きみはまいとし、ぼくたちをなんとかしてこわがらせようとするよね。さあ、ことしはできるかな。
キツネ ： もちろんさ。それじゃあね、ここのちかくのもりでハイキングをしていた３人の子どもがいましたとさ・・・
