古代より富士山は、日本において文化的な意義をもつ場所である。
その完璧なまでに均整がとれた円錐形の雄大な山は宗教巡礼の目的地であり、日本の聖なるシンボルとして崇められてきた。
優美な姿とそれを取り囲む風景は、偉大な芸術家や詩人たちの創造性を刺激し続けてきた。
日本最高峰の頂から日の出を見るために、多くの日本人が富士山に登っている。
最近になって富士山は世界遺産に指定され、今では日本の象徴となっている。
