古代より、富士山は日本にとって文化の面で大きな意味をもつ場所でした。
この雄大な山は、ほぼ完璧に左右対称の円錐形をしており、巡礼の旅の目的地であると同時に、この国を表わす聖なる象徴としてみなされています。
山とその周辺の風景の美しさは、多くの偉大な芸術家や詩人にインスピレーションを与えてきました。
