課題

Nothing makes people laugh more than a funny face. In Japan, fukuwarai is a traditional face making game which is played during the New Year’s holiday time. This game is not about using your actual face. Rather, people try to put together the pieces of a face onto a large flat head while blindfolded. The face is that of the Japanese mythical goddess Okame, the bringer of luck and kindness. After each player is done, everyone laughs at how funny the face looks. Fukuwarai literally means "lucky laugh" and laughing is exactly what happens when people play this game.

おもしろい顔を見るとつい笑ってしまいますね。日本では、「ふくわらい」という伝統的な遊びがあります。こっけいな顔を作るお正月の遊びです。顔を作るといっても本物の顔を使うのではありません。顔の輪郭を描いた大きな紙面上に顔のパーツを目隠ししたまま乗せる遊びです。顔の輪郭は日本神話の女神「おかめ」で、幸運や優しさをもたらすと信じられています。ひとりがおかめの顔を作り終わると、できあがった珍妙な顔を見てみんなで笑います。「ふくわらい」とは、「福（幸運）の笑い」という意味です。なるほどこのゲームをすると必ず楽しい笑いが広がります。
