課題

A young woman was walking home from work on a dark night. Due to road construction, she needed to take a path through a darkened cemetery. As she approached the cemetery gates, she was overcome by fear and began to shake. Suddenly, she saw a policeman walking along the road. She ran to him and asked for an escort home. He agreed and as they passed through the cemetery, the woman began trembling.
“Why are you shaking?” asked the policeman.
“It is horrible,” replied the woman. “I am terribly afraid of the dead.”
The policeman was surprised and asked with a laugh, “Why be afraid of us?”

若い女性がひとり、闇夜の中、家路をたどった。道路工事のため、暗澹とした墓地への迂回を余儀なくされた。霊園の入口に近づくと恐怖に襲われ、身震いした。ふと、道沿いに警官が歩いているのが見えた。女性は警官に駆け寄り、家まで付き添ってほしいと頼んだ。警官は快諾し、二人で墓地を抜ける。すると女性が震えだした。
「どうして震えてるの？」警官が尋ねると、女性は「怖いの。死者がものすごく、怖いの」と応えた。
警官は驚き、笑いながら聞いた。
「どうして僕らを怖がるの？」
