A taxi driver was going quickly down a busy street in the city. He passed four stop signs without stopping. He went the wrong way down a one-way street. He passed a police officer while searching on his cell phone for the address of the store he was headed to. And he texted from his cell phone to multiple people before finally arriving at his destination. During his whole trip, however, he didn’t break any laws. How?

一人のタクシー運転手が、市街地の混雑した通りを急いでいた。彼は４つの一時停止の標識の前を、停止せずに通過し、車両一方通行の道を、逆方向へ進み、行く先の店舗の住所を調べるために携帯電話で検索しつつ、警察官の前を通り過ぎた。そして、携帯電話から複数の人々にメールを送付して、やっと目的地にたどり着いた。けれども、この一連の移動中、運転手は何一つ、法令に違反することはなかった。なぜ？
