Castle Greystone was finally in sight.
After three days of rain, mud, and bad roads, it looked almost beautiful.
“Tell me we're staying there tonight,” said Leo.
“We're not,” Serena replied.
“Tomorrow, then?”
“Nope.”
Leo groaned.
“Why does every quest take us farther away from a proper bed?”
“Because adventurers never choose the easy road.”
“Then adventurers are idiots.”
Serena laughed.
“And yet you're still here.”
Leo opened his mouth to reply.
Then both of them fell silent.
The gates of Castle Greystone were slowly opening.

雨でぬかるんだ道を３日間歩いた後のせいか、より美しく見えた。
「今夜はあそこに泊まるんだよな」レオは言った。
「違うわ」とセレーナは言う。
「じゃあ 明日か？」
「いいえ」
レオはうなり声を上げた。
「なぜ冒険のたびにちゃんとしたベッドが遠ざかるんだ？」
「冒険家は決して楽な道を選ばないからよ」
「それなら冒険家はアホだな」
セレーナは笑った。
「でも あなたはまだここにいるじゃない」
レオは返事をしようと口を開いた。
だが 二人は黙り込んだ。
グレイストーン城の門がゆっくりと開いたのだ。
